PolyNovo is an Australian company focused on developing its novel patented family of biodegradable polymers NovoSorbTM for use in medical devices.
The NovoSorbTM platform has incredible versatility allowing new approaches to the treatment of many diseases and injuries. PolyNovo's business objectives are to tailor the properties of NovoSorbTM for medical devices in strategic markets. We have partnered and intend to partner with medical device companies in most key markets. In a limited number of situations we will build further value in NovoSorbTM based products prior to partnering. NovoSorbTM technology spans three families of composition of matter patents. Within each class of NovoSorbTM the mechanical performance, rate of degradation and the degradation products can be altered independently to suit the application environment. The typical biological degradation of these polymers shows a long retention of mechanical properties and device structure, followed by controlled but short complete mass loss. The ability to reproducibly manage the degradation process in this way gives NovoSorbTM one of its unique advantages over other biodegradable technologies. |
NovoSorbTM has been through a number of safety studies both in-vitro and in-vivo.
These have confirmed the basic safety of these polymers throughout their degradation process.
Selected grades are currently being studied under ISO10993 standard by an independent US based laboratory.
These data will form the basis of the documentation to support our customers' regulatory device submissions. PolyNovo's operations are based in Melbourne, Australia, within the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Molecular and Health Technologies campus. Our location facilitates access to equipment and an ability to collaborate with world-class scientists across multiple healthcare disciplines. PolyNovo Biomaterials Pty Ltd (PolyNovo) is an operating division of Xceed Biotechnology Ltd, an Australian Stock exchange listed company (ASX Code: XBL) |
