NovoSorb^TM was invented within the CSIRO division of Molecular and Health Technologies. NovoSorb^TM is a new classification of biodegradable polymer largely based on known and clinically accepted building blocks. The technology was approximately 5 years in fundamental development with a large multi-disciplined team of polymer scientists and biologists. Once the basic safety and efficacy of these polymers had been established PolyNovo was formed to commercialize the NovoSorb^TM technology.

NovoSorb^TM has three families of chemistry each with novel features that can be used in medical devices. Patent applications for these materials have been filed and are currently in various stages of examination. PolyNovo’s team is active in patenting further inventions within these technologies and have filed 5 further applications since the company was founded.
